Set Up Two-Factor Authentication

When you log into your Snapchat account, two-factor authentication is an optional protection mechanism that verifies that it really is actually you! This ensures the security of your account.
Snapchat is a social media program that allows you to send your Snapchat buddies instantly disappearing photographs, videos, and messages. There seems to be a lot more you are doing with Snapchat, these are the most well-known functions. However, Snapchat, like all other social networking sites like networks, is vulnerable to hacking, therefore it's a good idea to enable two-factor authentication. Anyone, including you, will be unable to get into your Snapchat account without inputting the additional six-digit security code that will be delivered to your phone if two-factor authentication is activated. You're quite certain how it's accomplished? Continue reading to learn how to implement two-factor authentication.

How Two-Factor Authentication Works

In addition to your Snapchat username and password, two-factor authentication provides an extra login step.

When you turn on two-factor authentication and log in on a new phone, you'll be prompted to generate a Login Code. This Login Code will be sent to you via SMS text message, or you can acquire it from a specific authorization app on your device.

Set Up Two-Factor Authentication

You must first complete a brief setup in the Snapchat app to begin using two-factor verification.

To set up two-factor authentication…

Tap ⚙️ in My Profile to open Settings

Tap 'Two-Factor Authentication'

Tap ‘Continue’ to finish setting it up!

Choose SMS Text or an Authenticator App

Your Login Code can be obtained in one of two different ways: via Email or text or using dedicated software on your phone known as an authenticator app.

Authenticator Apps

Use a respected app like Google Authenticator or Duo to acquire your Login Codes. This program offers one-time-use credentials that are only valid for a limited period.

If you can't always get an SMS text message, such as if you play Snapchat on a tablet or travel overseas, authenticator applications are a suitable option.

You won't be eligible to receive your Login Codes if you lose your smartphone or deactivate the authenticator app!

SMS Verification

Snapchat may deliver Login Codes to the mobile number associated with your Snapchat account via SMS text messages. (Standard data and message fees may apply.)

It's convenient to get your Login Codes via SMS text messages, but if you don't have adequate cell coverage, you can have problems!

Why a Recovery Code is Important

If you can't retrieve your Login Code from a text message or your authenticator app, you can use a recovery code.

If you use two-factor authentication, we strongly advise you to create a recovery code and store it somewhere safe.

How to enable two-factor authentication on Snapchat

Step 1: Launch the Snapchat app and tap the Snapchat logo on the upper left side of the screen. Your Snapchat profile should open after that. A gear logo can also be placed in the upper corner. To access the settings menu, simply tap on it.

Step 2: To enable two-factor authentication on Snapchat, go to the Settings menu and select Login Verification. You'll be led to the Login Verification screen after that, which outlines what login verification (also known as two-factor authentication) is. A switch with the word "Continue" printed over it will be there too. To continue, tap on the Continue button.

Step 3: You will now be prompted to select a method for receiving the verification code. You can get it via SMS or obtain it using an authenticated tool like Google Authenticator or Duo Mobile on your smartphone. If you're traveling outside of the United States, the authenticated program is a reasonable alternative for you might not be able to get a security code via SMS on your phone number. Having stated that, we chose the SMS option as our circumstance. You will receive a six-digit verification code after tapping mostly on the SMS button, which you must input in the text area and then touch on Continue.

Step 4: After submitting the verification code, you will be offered the option of issuing a Recovery Code. If you seem unable to receive SMS, have lost your phone, changed your phone number, or have lost access to the authentication app, this Recovery Code will be handy. In simpler terms, imagine it as a backup code in case you can't locate your Snapchat account for all of the other aforementioned reasons.

That's all there is to it. That's how you set it up Snapchat's two-factor authentication. In addition to your username and password, you will now be obliged to submit the verification code delivered via SMS or produced using the authenticator app every time you log in to your Snapchat account. You won't be able to log in to your Snapchat account unless you aren't doing it, and somebody who has your login details.
